Tour of the Rocky Mountanineer Operations

The day started with a breakfast at the Mount Paul Golf course.
It was suppose to start at 11:00 however by 10:45 there was already 26 out of the 44 were there having coffee.
   
At 12:45 Don said it was time to leave so everyone headed for their cars for the short drive over to the CN Station where the Rocky Mountaineer has their base office.
            




Ken presented Robert Mensinger with a Thank You certificate for taking his time on a Saturday to give us a private tour of the operation of The Rocky Mountianeer

Rob explained details what it costs to do many of the operations each year in regards to Staffing, Train crews, Cost of refurbishing & the  purchasing of new cars, Renting of track time from CN & CP and much, much more.

First stop on our tour was to the Warehouse where everything and I mean everything from extra forks  &  knives, water jugs, coffee pots, table cloths to head rest covers.
   
Then it was a short walk from the wharehouse over to the maintenace shop

 
Robert went into great deail on all the safety features that the crew perform on all the cars after each run

Kamloops is the main maintenace shop and all work is perfored here other than sending cars out for repainting.
With their backs to us Don Potts and Gerry wallin are checking out the unit that replaces the wheel [trucks] assembly on the cars
John & Lila try out the comfortable seats while Robert explains more about the service you can expect on the trips and more details obout the cars where they are made and cost.
